Foodwise is a registered charity No. 1164890
FoodWise TLC is based in Woking and Guildford and provides free cookery courses, for people on low incomes. We teach groups to cook healthy low cost food for themselves and their families. In doing so we equip people with lifelong skills and build up their cooking knowledge and confidence.
2. Our commitment to your privacy
We are committed to keeping the personal details of clients safe. This policy explains how and why we use your personal data, to ensure that you remain informed and in control of your information.
We do not share your personal data with anyone else. We will never sell your personal data to anyone else.

2. What personal data do we collect?
When you register on a Foodwise course we record your name, phone number(s), email address, how many people you cook for and any dietary/health issues. We ask if you are happy to be photographed and if you would like to opt in to hearing from us by email in the future.
3. Why do we collect your personal data?
We will only ever collect, store and use your personal data when we have an identified purpose and reason to do so. The ICO refers to this as a ‘lawful basis’. Further information about why we collect your personal data is outlined below.
We use your personal data to keep in touch with you.
a) To administer your participation in one of our courses or events
We collect your personal data to administer your participation in one of our courses or events, which may involve:
Sending you details of the course or event which you have signed up to participate in.
Sending reminders ahead of the event, or follow up communications regarding any changes to the times/dates
Sending you additional materials related to the course e.g. recipes
Requesting information on dietary/health requirements to ensure the meals cooked on the course are suitable for your needs
Sending you information about future events and courses
Personal details for course participants are kept by the relevant Food Coach for the duration of their participation in the course.
The ICO define the lawful basis for processing your data for these purposes as ‘legitimate interest’.
b) To send you information about our work, future courses or to ask your opinion
We also collect your personal data so that we can send you information about our work that we feel will be of interest to you. This includes informing you of future courses, events, and recipes. From time to time, we may also use your personal data to ask for your opinion about our work.
We use opt-in consent to send you the information listed above by email, or text message (SMS). When you register on our course you will be asked to tick a box to opt in to receiving this information. This contact list is kept on a password protected drive only accessible to Foodwise staff.
This information is in addition to that outlined in sections a) and is defined as ‘legitimate interest’ by the ICO.
We respect your right to update the way we get in touch with you about our work at any time and you can unsubscribe at any point by replying to an email with the word UNSUBSCRIBE, or by emailing info@foodwisetlc.care
Other data
Foodwise monitors the effectiveness of our courses via anonymous feedback forms.
Foodwise undertakes equalities monitoring that is used to understand the reach of our courses. Our feedback forms are anonymous.
Requesting your data
Any individual can contact Foodwise at any point on info@foodwisetlc.careto request to view the personal data we hold on them, or to ask for it to be deleted.
How do we store your data?
We will only use and store information for as long as it required for the purposes
of monitoring our courses. This will usually be a period of 18 months, unless
you have opted in to receiving our email communications. We continually review
what information we hold, and delete what is no longer required.
