Food Wise
A Christian based charity delivering food provision, training and education to local communities

Food Training

FoodWise training courses are open to all and seek to relieve the impact of financial hardship by teaching people how to prepare and cook nutritional food on a restricted budget. Priority is given to those people who are assessed to be the most likely to benefit from cookery skills training by our link charities and care professionals.

Training is delivered in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere where participants are encourage to ask questions and experiment with healthy food options.

  • Sessions are led by a qualified food coach and supported by local volunteers
  • Local venues with suitable cooking facilities are used (e.g. church & community halls)
  • Courses teach food preparation, budgeting and purchasing skills
  • Courses usually run for 6 weeks and are limited to 6 participants
  • All food and equipment is provided free of charge

Course attendees may have the opportunity to visit a supermarket chain and meet a member of the supermarket’s staff to discuss tips and ways to achieve savings, since food is a significant expenditure for families.
